Introduction: My research interests are focused on the computational/mathematical simulation and analysis of biological complex systems. At the moment I work in a computational and stochastic framework for systems and synthetic biology based on P systems which includes a modular and parsimonious modelling language for multicellular systems, model checking and sensitivity analysis. I am applying this framework to study the gene regulatory system responsible for quorum sensing in bacterial colonies of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and to the design of synthetic bacterial colonies exhibiting predefined spatio-temporal patterns of gene expression.
